What are Shinshinim?

Over the last 15 years, 200 young and spirited Israelis – the cream of the crop of high school graduates – have been hand-picked to dedicate a year of “global community service” after high school to bridge the gap between Israel and the Toronto Diaspora. Embedded into our homes, day schools, synagogues, and summer camps, these emissaries have transformed our community’s relationship with Israel.

My father's name is Michael and he owns a legal services business. We ore 3 siblings in the family, my older brother's name is Roye and he is 30
years old, he is married and hos a master's degree in biology at the Weizmann Institute. My sister Lior is 26 years old and is an industrial engineer at a medical device company. My family likes to travel the world, meet different cultures, different people and foreign languages. I grew up in a small town where I know most of my age group, I love the town where I live because it is very communal and family oriented.

I am studying physics and computer science because I enjoy the intellectual challenge they provide.

I spend most of my time in the Scouts, in addition, I like to spend time with friends, l listen to music, swim, and travel I like to travel because I like to see different landscapes in the country, go camping, and meet people along the way, My
friends and I make sure we talk and get to know people we meet, I think the state of Israel is beautiful and there is always something to see in it. I like swimming because it is a liberating sport where you disconnect from the environment and
concentrate on the water.

My mom and dad are divorced - so I had the privilege to have two caring and loving households. My dad is a lawyer, my mom was a stay- at-home mom until the divorce, but after it, she made her way into the education department of our town and
worked long hours to ensure that we could grow up in a stable and safe household. I grew up with two brothers, one older than me and one younger. We live in "Ramot  Hashavim". because of its size, the youth in the "kfar" was always like a second family to me - and some of my friends from this village - are the people I trust the most.

My majors in high school are theater and biology . I always thought of this combination as "one for the mind and one for the soul".  All through primary and middle school I loved the "science" subject - particularly the biology part of it, and so it was
obvious to me that I was going to major in biology. Ever since I was a little child I was always artistic whether it was drawing, singing, or especially acting . and so when it came down to picking a second major, I knew I didn't want to be covered with only textbooks for the next three years of my life - and I needed something to make me happy in a different way, so I picked theatre - and never regretted it.

Because I'm very involved in the youth movement, and because I put a lot of effort into school, I usually don't get a lot of "free time". but usually, if I do find some time off - I 'II probably work out, go for a run, or hang out with my friends.
