Pesach 2024 - 5784

Passover, or Pesach (PEH-sach) in Hebrew, commemorates the slavery of the Israelites in Egypt and their ultimate exodus to freedom. This story of redemption from slavery is the “master-story” of the Jewish People – a story that has shaped Jewish consciousness and values. It is essentially a festival of freedom and justice.

Pesach 2024 / 5784 will begin on the evening of Monday, April 22 and will end on the evening of Tuesday, April 30.

PESACH GUIDE 2024
This Guide, prepared by the Kashrut Subcommittee and approved by the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards, explains the laws, customs and rules regarding the dietary restrictions of Passover. Some of these guidelines are quite technical and even complicated; that is the result of the special stringency of Passover rules in Jewish in law and the complex, new ways in which foods are processed in our time.

We do not intend this Guide to replace your Rabbi's guidance on these matters; on the contrary, you should contact your Rabbi with any questions you have about what is written or missing.
